TAIPEI (AFP) - Taiwan is studying the possibility of ending its ban on casinos so as to boost its tourism industry, a move others such as Singapore have already taken to exploit the boom in Chinese travel overseas, an official said Thursday.

Taiwan jobless rate came in at seasonally adjusted 3.91% in February, the statistical office said Thursday. The jobless rate dropped from 3.94% recorded in January. On an unadjusted basis, jobless rate stood at 3.78% versus 3.79% recorded last month.

Thursday, Taiwan shares rose significantly, following a stronger closing on the Wall Street, after the U.S. Federal decided not to change interest rate.
